Theme Day: A view from my room

Sometimes I can't believe how lucky I am to have a view of the Mediterranean - alright it's only a glimpse - but also the countryside around. The hillside to the right in this photo is densely wooded and full of birds and other wildlife - all of which continues to amaze me, situated as I am, only 11 kilometres from the high-density of Monte Carlo. My neighbour, just above me, keeps pet sheep.

So if you come to visit, we'll be sitting at this table with a bottle of something very drinkable between us. Probably an aperitif before dining in Menton or Gorbio.

  1. Yes Jilly I feel very bad. Must apologise!

Hope you are better soon. Surely the view will help you feel better, it is absolutely wonderful!

Your garden furniture is definitely of the latest trend in the south of France. Feels like a Coté Sud magazine, it's great!

Any risk of bushfires with so much vegetation around the house?

  4. Jilly - this is by far the most beautiful photo I've seen today. I'd love to be sipping something cold & drinkable at the table - you can almost smell the sea just looking at your photo!

  9. Nathalie, of course I was only kidding.

Ming, Alice, everyone, yes you are all welcome - but perhaps not all at once, eh?

Isabella, it would be even more heaven if you - my soul sister - were here.

  13. Isabella

Why do you think I asked you? Only kidding and you know it.

Nathalie - if a fire started on the hillside on a windy day, we'd all be in trouble. The helicopters and the Canadair pilots tho are brilliant and keep a good eye on things. We had a bad fire a couple of days ago a few kilometres away but happily it got put out after destroying 50 hectares and happily no houses.

  16. Thanks for coming and looking through my Sydney window. Now, I've booked the flight and should be there for a campari or champagne aperitif in about 26 hours. OK?

  17. Even just a little of the Mediterranean would be just enough, I think, to start and end my days on a happy note. And if I heard sheep bleating in the background, all the better. And if I were sitting with you having an aperitif before ambling down for dinner, tout est merveilleux.
