A stroll at dusk
It may be that this photograph isn't very sharp. I took it at dusk and have much to learn on this camera. Menton used to be known (and perhaps still is) as a town of the troisème age (in another words: a retirement place). If you look at the strollers in this photo, you'll probably agree. However, whilst people do retire to Menton, it's still very much a vibrant town with much to do for every age group who lives here. Families comes to Menton on holiday. Young people looking for more nightlife go to Monaco or Cannes or Juan-les-Pins.
Everyone lives so close together. Hope most of them get along with their neighbors. Nice photo.
ReplyDeleteLooks like a great retirement area. Plenty of people to visit with and do things together.
ReplyDeleteAnd there I was thinking those strolling people were tourists :)
ReplyDeleteCan I tell you? I just love that facade.
Are there elevators in those buildings (like teh pink one that goes up four storeys? I sure hope so!
Are you working for the Menton Chamber of Commerce? ;-)
ReplyDeleteNo need to twist our collective arm - we would be there, if we could...
seems to be a nice hot place!..I would be happy to be there:)
ReplyDeleteGreat photo...the buildings are wonderful. I think the two in front are tourists...his backpack...perhaps not.
ReplyDeleteYes, I think a lot of these strollers are indeed tourists. Seeing them made me think of retirement age and then I decided to write about Menton and older people - now realise I was being totally confusing. The mind just got carried away - what was I saying about older people?!!
ReplyDeleteAnd no, no lifts in the Old Town. You can though drive to the top of of the Old town (near the cemetery) and so walk DOWN with shopping as opposed to walking UP.
I wouldn't mind spending a bit of my time here even if I'm far from being retired!!!
ReplyDeletetrès belle skyline, j'aime beaucoup les couleurs des maisons et cette église qui règne sur la ville.
ReplyDeleteI could so retire here!
ReplyDeleteThe beauty of Menton astounds every time I see it. I mean these folks seem relaxed. Are you sure this is not heaven?
ReplyDeleteI'm ready to retire to Menton. If only I can find a way to make a living there.
ReplyDeleteObviously the dog sitting job is already taken. :-)
I know I would like to retire in Menton.
ReplyDeleteThe softness of this photo just makes the whole scene look more relaxed. I really like it--
ReplyDeleteThis is such a beautiful picture...there are certainly worse places to spend your golden years!
ReplyDeleteWould I retire there if I could!!
ReplyDeleteI have a long way to go to retirement, but even now I would choose Menton over a fast paced city. Wish I were there!
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely place to live in! Retired or not!
