Turn the corner from the Place aux Herbes, look up, and this is what you see. So much of the Old Town is gaspingly beautiful. At least it is to me. Here, the juxtaposition of the lamp, those colours, the shutters, the climbing plant and the sign - it all works, doesn't it?
It is new but old, colorful but plain and nice to see. Things so nice look so nice to those who never walk the streets and see the sights you see and photograph.
Thank you for visiting my blog today. Also to answer your question, the Mourning Dove has a mournful coo sound that is, I suppose the reason it has the name. Once you hear it you never could forget it.
I come to your site for daily inspiration. Today's entry was especially uplifting as I imagined my wife and I, hand in hand, walking under this sign and up the street to have a coffee and a pastry--or perhaps a late afternoon glass of Chardonnay. Sigh.
I like this one as well as the one you chose for Theme Day.....Denton can't figure out what is up with my site on CDPB....I guess I am just out there for those who already know me!

ReplyDeleteVery nice composition. I like the subdued colors and its timeless look.
ReplyDeleteOh, yes, it does. Delightful shot.
ReplyDeleteWhat really I like from Old Town is iron work in those hanging signs. You don't see that anymore. It just so classic in my eyes.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful coloured and graphic catch
ReplyDeleteIt is often enough to raise the eyes.
But there are only truths photographers which do it
;-)

Beautiful photo!
ReplyDeleteWhy didn't you save it for the Sept 1st "theme day"?
Oh yes it works. Very nice jilly.
ReplyDeleteI love the colours of Menton's Old Town and the architecture...the shuttered windows. It truly is a lovely Town.
Look how neatly they have put the wires for the lamp under the arch.
Visually stunning and so inviting!
ReplyDeleteYep....great apricot. Makes it so "habitable" doesn't it?
ReplyDeleteYes, it works. It more than works. It delights.
ReplyDeleteThank you.
