Daily Photo Theme Day: A Typical Breakfast
First buy your croissant! This lady runs my favourite bakery in Menton. Not only is the bread great but she never stops smiling. Below you'll find a photograph of breakfast possibles - personally I love the brioches sucrés. (You can buy cheaper elsewhere but not as good!) I've never been sure that the French really do eat croissants every day, so do visit Eric in Paris where you'll get confirmation of this and can also click on a link to read all about croissants.
Today is Daily Photo Theme Day. 99 Daily Photo bloggers from cities all around the world will be presenting their Typical Breakfasts today. Do click on their blogs and enjoy their offerings:

And where's the Sacristain...?!
ReplyDeleteShe has such a pleasant smile, I would buy from her anyday.
ReplyDeleteJilly - I'm easy to please - I'll have one of everything. My mouth is watering - how lucky you are!!!!
ReplyDeleteWhat is it about French bakeries, I'm drooling already! I think she smiles because she is the most important person in town!
ReplyDeleteThat is stunning! And she looks the antithesis of the stereotypically grumpy boulangerie person!
ReplyDeleteOne of the great delights in France is getting to the bakery for fresh bread just as a new batch is coming out of the oven, and going home for a great big milk coffee with bread and butter and cheese.
This is the best ever contribution to the theme, terrific and yummy
ReplyDeleteles fougasses, j'adore ça, parcontre je ne sais pas du tout ce que c'est une "Mentonnaise" ?
ReplyDeleteShe has cheerful smile. Croissant at bakery near my house only 70 ct. Maybe 20 ct diferent is for the smile ? *LOL*
ReplyDeleteOh, I like her smile, so friendly. And so many kinds of bread. Yum yum ..
ReplyDeletethose prices seem eminently reasonable.
ReplyDeleteThe back round is so tempting and they just about the same price as us
ReplyDeleteI'd like to go there right know.

ReplyDeletePain au chocolat and a brilliant smile - that's all I need for breakfast!
Mmmm...that looks delicious; I can't imagine a more pleasant way to start the day.
ReplyDeleteohh how wonderful store..I like if a bakery has a mood
ReplyDeleteNot sure I have ever had a croissant! I don't imagine the American ones would be as tasty as these look.
ReplyDeleteIf I see a seller's smile like her, for sure I'll come back the next day. Very tempting croissant.
ReplyDeleteGreat photo of the yummy croisants and the lovely lady with a sweet welcoming smile.
ReplyDeleteAh, elle est superbe la photo de la boulangere! Thanks! :)

ReplyDeleteGood idea to take a picture where everything in France is starting about breakfast...the bakery
ReplyDeleteOh Jilly, that's just mean! :) How I wish we could get croissants and pain au chocolat here like the ones in France - we do get them, but they're just not the same.
ReplyDeletecomme Olivier, la fougasse je connais mais "Mentonnaise" ?. en tout cas ce post est original.
ReplyDeleteSuper appétissant, et la boulangère a l'air super sympa!
ReplyDeleteSuch an appetizing array of wonderful food! So, are you inviting us all to breakfast now? I'm ready to book a flight. . .

Jilly, they are so well presented and look very appetising. Is this what is known as a pattiserie?

I like your croissant much better than Eric's. Is €0.90 too much for a croissant?
ReplyDeleteI love French bakeries, especially the ones with smiling patissier and/or people working there.
ReplyDeleteFantastic photo! I can smell the bread and it is making me hungry!!
ReplyDeleteooohh--she looks so friendly! not at all like some of the people at the bakeries here. and all that freshly baked, rustic looking bread looks delicious!
ReplyDeleteI'll have a pain au chocolat please.

I love to bake brioches, but I had my first proper (baked in a French bakery in Wellington) brioches sucrés for the first time last weekend. Jilly, what is that sugar on top? It's lighter and fluffier and yet not shapeless. Is there a name for it?
ReplyDeleteOh that is lovely, save one for me and one for my Ollie...
ReplyDeleteI'm a bit late with commenting but I hope you'll forgive me for that :)
ReplyDeleteThose croissants must be an excellent choice for the breakfast! I always have one with my morning coffee if I get a chance, and your photo is soooooooo mouth-watering!
