Daily Photo Theme Day: A Typical Breakfast

First buy your croissant! This lady runs my favourite bakery in Menton. Not only is the bread great but she never stops smiling. Below you'll find a photograph of breakfast possibles - personally I love the brioches sucrés. (You can buy cheaper elsewhere but not as good!) I've never been sure that the French really do eat croissants every day, so do visit Eric in Paris where you'll get confirmation of this and can also click on a link to read all about croissants.

Today is Daily Photo Theme Day. 99 Daily Photo bloggers from cities all around the world will be presenting their Typical Breakfasts today. Do click on their blogs and enjoy their offerings:

  4. What is it about French bakeries, I'm drooling already! I think she smiles because she is the most important person in town!

  5. That is stunning! And she looks the antithesis of the stereotypically grumpy boulangerie person!

One of the great delights in France is getting to the bakery for fresh bread just as a new batch is coming out of the oven, and going home for a great big milk coffee with bread and butter and cheese.

  34. I like your croissant much better than Eric's. Is €0.90 too much for a croissant?

  39. I love to bake brioches, but I had my first proper (baked in a French bakery in Wellington) brioches sucrés for the first time last weekend. Jilly, what is that sugar on top? It's lighter and fluffier and yet not shapeless. Is there a name for it?

  40. Oh that is lovely, save one for me and one for my Ollie...

  41. I'm a bit late with commenting but I hope you'll forgive me for that :)

Those croissants must be an excellent choice for the breakfast! I always have one with my morning coffee if I get a chance, and your photo is soooooooo mouth-watering!
