McDonald's in Menton

Yes, we have a McDonald's in Menton - right next to the beautiful Moorish market building which you can see in this photograph, taken at dusk. I suppose this McDonald's is not as 'obvious' as some, with its small logo and installed in a rather nice building.

Can there be a city in the world without a McDonald's? Do you have one in your city?

  1. Hard to believe that the life styles of families will change forever with the advent of more and more global food chains. JgA

  2. We do. The biggest one is right in the central square of my city (Timisoara, Romania), in an old and beautifull building. It smells like hell and - sorry - I hate it. I hope the mentonaise Mc D has a healthier "perfume".At least it doesn't look as crowdy as ours.

  3. We live in a small river village. The only "global chain" we have is Starbucks, which caused a great deal of protest! It is in an old building 3 blocks from the river, and is very low-key with a nice staff of locals, always quiet.

The nearest MacDonald's is on a busy highway, a few miles outside of our village, near the entrance to the NY State thruway. There was also a KFC and a Burger King on this highway--but both went out of businesss-YAY! (and were replaced by Dunkin' Donuts-- seems like people want COFFEE & sugar more than meat.)

  4. I like the people in this photo--wow, our picture is being taken, and Merde! We are at the McDonald's!

Not the coolest place to be seen.

we have tons of restuarants within easy walking distance, but only one is fast food-- it is a Quizno, I think they serve soups and sandwiches.

  5. Wouldn't it be better for us all if McDonalds was made to serve only traditional foods of the country where it was situated?

  6. Nice to see that McDonald's tried to blend in a bit with the rest of the area. We have 3 McDonald's in town (1 is inside Wal-Mart).

  7. Yes it is a little understated Jilly, a bit like the fat content of the burgers!

  8. No McDonald's here in Montego Bay. In fact there are no McDonald's in the entire Jamaica. There used to be franchises all over the island. In fact, Mobay had 3. A few years ago however, McDonald's pulled out of Jamaica entirely.

  9. I think they are everywhere!!

One good thing I have to say about MickeyD (or any fast food chain restaurants) is that they are open till late at night and thank goodness for their free bathrooms.

There have been times when I really needed to go and it's like 1 AM and the only place that is open is McDonalds. :-)

  10. Not only don't I have one in my "city" - there is NOT ONE IN THE COUNTRY! Do I win the prize??

Bet you're going to say I've won a cheeseburger, fries and large Coke.

  11. That's very interesting sign language, that the garçon on the right is displaying.
Perhaps he is reflecting on the taste of the food, or is he simply a distant relative of Winston Churchill?
I think that other restaurants may have more gentille patrons?

Select Tea on the menu and payed for the item. When it comes to collect given Earl Gray - only alternative Green Tea or Fruit tea. Surly Mac's understand that to most people TEA is English tea served with milk. Staff looked at us as if we were daft when we asked for English tea.
    What a disgrace!!!!
