  1. I like this... The blue signs look very nice against the sandy colours of the wall.

  2. Funny. Streets that go in different directions are rather frequent in France. It's tricky :-)) My elder son lives in such a street. If you don't know that the street perpendicular to the one you are driving or walking on has the same name, you get lost. By the way his street is "rue Saint Boudou", which is the only street with that name in France.

  3. Yes Marie is right. Its tricky and we could get lost. Nice shot Jilly.

  4. Marie is right. It also happened to me even if I'm quite used to that kind of streets.

  5. We have streets that are offset. You can go down one street named "one" and it becomes "two" because you missed the jog to the right where "one" went.

I didn't participate this month as I found nothing worthwhile to photograph among the few street signs and lights that we have where I live. Maybe next time.

  6. The chateau street would logically go both directions if the sign was on the chateau.

  7. Um, an idea has popped into my head. I could put a sign on my house naming my sidewalk Rue d'Annie. Here in Arkansas where so many are of English heritage, many would wonder if I were telling them that I "rue the day".

  8. Two opposite streets to a same castle? Maybe a big one? ;-)

  9. I, too, like the blue against the stonework.

  10. Heehee! Not a lot of choice :-) Your photo is sort of the complement to mine today. Are you going to post the hiking signpost photo?

  11. I'm lost, apparently I forget to take the turn at Rue du Chateau.

  12. Very neat and can't miss it!

  13. OK if there are also signs on the opposite corner, otherwise you don't see the sign.

The house at the bottom of our street is angled toward the street on the left; people see the street sign and turn left instead of going straight up. Even an emergency ambulance went to the wrong street! The council say that there is a sign that points up the street, but that is visible only to anyone coming the wrong way down a one-way street!

  14. I would be confused...to intersectinig streets with the same name?

  15. lol annie :) I was thinking along similar lines: mayhap I too should put up a sign on my house that said my house name.

It would confuse the heck out of a lot of people, that's for sure!:-)

  16. Even I was confused to see the same name on different streets here. The stones look like the ones used here in Malta.

  20. I love the traditional street signs like these. The only place in the US where I've seen them are in the French Quarters in New Orleans.

  21. Excellent photograph!
the street must be used with foot for the days of large thirst

  22. Typical French lettering. A great design. Bit confusing for tourists though?

  23. Confusing? Nah...I think it's brilliant: Meet me at the corner of rue du Chateau and rue du Chateau ;-)
