Another event put on by the Pompiers of Menton. I love the idea of being able to whizz down the rope from the top of the fort called the Bastion, which was constructed in 1636. Would you like to do this?
You can see the Firemen on top of the Bastion securing the ropes ready for the day's events.
I would like to LIVE on the top of the Bastion, and in the night to wonder on the tops of all roofs in Menton, like a cat... what a blue sky you have over there, Jilly...(sigh)
ReplyDeleteWo! I think I'd do that if they had some pillows under the line. You'd have to be pretty brave to do that without a safety net :-)
ReplyDeleteI would love to try that. From the portal, it looked like the truck was going to try to pull over the fort with a rope.
ReplyDeleteOh, yes, I would like to give it a try! Have you done that, Jilly?
ReplyDeleteAlso, is this something the Pompiers of Menton set up every year?
It's like a modern day version of Rapunzel ;-)
ReplyDeleteSure, it sounds like fun. :)
ReplyDeleteYes, me too, I WANT TO ZIP DOWN THE ROPE TOO!!!! Oh, but when I first saw the picture, I was afraid this was going to be a sad story of an old castle being pulled down. What fun shots you have from the Telethon.
ReplyDeleteThanks,
Wayne
Yes Jilly, I'll give it a whirl!
ReplyDeleteFenix, no, I've not done it. I think it's only for children but whilst I often think like one (!) sadly I'm not one. Realise I could do this elsewhere perhaps but anyway, no - at least not yet.
ReplyDeleteAnd yes, the Pompiers are involved every year in the Telethon putting on many events to raise money.
They moved the castle for Telethon?
ReplyDeleteI would love to try that! I watch Amazing Race and see the contestants zipping down the ropes and wish I could try it!
ReplyDeleteWrong.....they are about to tow the Bastion away. 1636? That'll be a large parking fine.
