Château of Roquebrune - view from the Donjon
We've climbed the ladder you saw yesterday to the top of the donjon where I'm standing in this photograph. You can see the shadow of the donjon's crenelations on the wall. Please click on THIS LINK which shows just how high we are and perhaps clarifies the distance between donjon and flag. Trust me! - it makes it clearer...
Tomorrow will be the last day of our visit - just time to say goodbye to the cat. I'll have an invitation for you - in fact, two invitations. So please come back.

The flag makes it so "republican" :-))) This was a really nice visit!
ReplyDeleteI have enjoyed this tour very much. As I said, I was comparing it to El Morro in San Juan. Amazing that they could have built those things so long ago and that they lasted, no? A 70' section of the wall in SJ fell last month, and they think it was more because of the *modern* cement the park service had used to repair it than from age. They are back to using a mixture of stuff close to the original limestone, sand and water.
ReplyDeleteSo lovely to read your guided tour. I enjoyed so much. Love the way the shadow cast on the wall.
ReplyDeleteLet me tell you I loved the shadow contrast on the wall and, of course, I saluted the flag!
ReplyDeleteYou are quite a tourist guide.
What a fascinating look around a historic symbol Jilly.
ReplyDeleteThanks for your recent comments
