If I were to choose what I find iconic about Menton it would be the view in the banner along the top of this page - the beautiful Old Town and the sea. But the one thing you can't get away from and what Menton is famous for is simply the lemon. Visitors come from all over the world for Menton's celebrated Lemon Festival - La Fête du Citron - click on the link to find out why.
Today is Theme Day with 136 participants from all over the world taking part. Do take time to visit them and see what other bloggers think is considered iconic about their cities.

I'm so glad you showed that! It's true....and it's the first thing always mentioned in the guidebooks (and it being the town closest to the Italian border....and the year-round warm climate)
Merci

ReplyDeletehey, why do the lemons have a break in the middle?
Very cool ... and it looks like oranges might get similar attention from what I see at the right side of your photo?
ReplyDeleteGot lemons? ;-)
ReplyDeleteIt is true - Menton to me means old downtown, lemons...and Jilly (not necessarily in that order!).

ReplyDeleteI shall remember your city the next time I buy lemons from the supermarket :-)
The French are so clever the way they grow lemons with rubber bands around them, so colour co-ordinated. Surely they are not really Spanish !
ReplyDeleteOne thing is certain; the climate of Menton is magnificent. The sun shining so strongly in winter. No wonder the produce is so delicious and healthy.
I will remember to look out for lemons and hopefully, lemon meringue pie, aaaaah, in a few months, time.
I'm feeling healthier already, Jilly. Lovely photo !!

ReplyDeleteWe use lemon in some of our recipes however the most common use of lemon I regularly see is a lemon wedge in every glass of water served in most restaurants. Now I will think of Menton with each glass of water.
ReplyDeleteit is really fun..and cute:)
