Fête du Citron: Corso - Cancun, Mexico

Amongst all the jollity, a very serious young man - part of a wonderful marching band. They followed the Cuban float - but are they Cuban? A couple of girls carried a banner - you've seen enough girls lately! The banner blew in the wind and so I can only read the first letter - 'C.' So are they Cuban, Columbian or from Chile? A postcard from Menton to anyone who knows.

Later: I just had an email from a lady, from the UK, who was at the festival this year and she remembers the banner with the letter C - and also the design of a green crocodile which represents Cancun, Mexico. She also says these same sombreros are sold in the tourist shops in Cancun. So, many thanks, Sally - a postcard will soon be on its way to you.

  1. I love that ear. The clothes stunning. You caught the mood in the photograph and the only thing missing is the sound.

  4. George, yes I updated it after your message simply because I'd had an email from a lady who was at the festival. She remembers seeing a green crocodile on the banner, with the letter C - which represents Cancun, Mexico. She has also seen the hats sold in the Cancum tourist shops. You still get a postcard!

And Kate, from Mexico - you were right! Thankyou. I sent some shots to Kate earlier this week and she felt they were likely to be a Mexican group cos of their sombreros in particular.

  8. Yes very serious indeed. Actually I have noticed that candid photos often have people frowning. My take from this is that one should smile at all times because you never know when your photograph may be taken then shared with the world.

  9. Rats! I'm too late...but I would have guessed by the boy's scarf - those are the colors of Mexican flag.

Btw, Denton, I'm smiling now ;-)

  10. isabella, your comment has finally made me realise 'Of course.!' I'd been looking at flags of Chile, Columbia and Cuba - forgetting Mexico is the country of Cancun. Duh!

You get a postcard too and so does Kate. I think I'll go into the postcard business.

  12. Jilly, please find my addy below. My browser can't open your address (because it's a java script and I don't use a mail client on this browser - btw, that's something you might want to look into as many people have switched to using web based mail systems and don't have/use an IPS mail client account that would open up when clicking on "Contact Jilly.").

  13. Cute young boy. I'm like Abraham. I noticed the ear :-)) (which is too big or is it the hat that is too tight ?).

  14. Hey, Jilly!
I have loved this series on FdC. Very interesting. I tell you. . .I am jealous that you live in such a great place!

BTw.. .I am ready to post a rant about people who do not take care of their dogs. You wouldn't believe what I saw this past week.

  15. I wonder, if they really came all the way from Mexico to join in the festival? Or are these Mexicans living in Menton?
