Fête du Citron: Corso - Madagascar

This char (float) represents Madagascar. If you missed the earlier posts, you can read about how these floats are constructed at THIS LINK.

This year's festival - the 75th - has beaten all previous records with 250,000 visitors. The last 'best year' was in 2003 when the theme was 'Pinocchio.' In a few week's time, we'll know what next year's theme will be.

The fruit is bought from Spain where it is cheaper. Menton can't produce enough.

  8. It's really no wonder that so many people have enjoyed the festival because the floats are both unique and fantastic. What fun it must be to participate, even if it's only as a spectator.

What percentage would you think came from other countries?

  13. Fenix, there are many foreign visitors to the Festival but I don't have any idea of the percentage. Sometimes this sort of information is printed in Nice-Matin and I'll keep an eye. If not, will call into the tourist office one day. Certainly I heard lots of foreign voices but also so many visitors from all around France.
