Fête du Citron: Corso - Madagascar
This char (float) represents Madagascar. If you missed the earlier posts, you can read about how these floats are constructed at THIS LINK.
This year's festival - the 75th - has beaten all previous records with 250,000 visitors. The last 'best year' was in 2003 when the theme was 'Pinocchio.' In a few week's time, we'll know what next year's theme will be.

ReplyDeleteThe fruit is bought from Spain where it is cheaper. Menton can't produce enough.
I love the way they used oranges, limes and lemons to enphasize some bits...
ReplyDeleteHEY! WHERE'S THE VODKA???!!!
ReplyDeleteAH AH AH AH!!!
;-)
It's really no wonder that so many people have enjoyed the festival because the floats are both unique and fantastic. What fun it must be to participate, even if it's only as a spectator.
ReplyDeleteTiny Menton must've been bursting at the seams! :)
ReplyDeleteWhat percentage would you think came from other countries?
Jilly this festival fascinates me.
ReplyDeleteOur Strawberry festival pales in comparison.
it must smell so good and refreshing.
ReplyDeletelooks like the citrus brings energy with it
I love your pictures of the Fête. This one shows how creative one can get with a few bags of lemons :)
ReplyDeleteThank for coming over to KLDP on its birthday.
Fenix, there are many foreign visitors to the Festival but I don't have any idea of the percentage. Sometimes this sort of information is printed in Nice-Matin and I'll keep an eye. If not, will call into the tourist office one day. Certainly I heard lots of foreign voices but also so many visitors from all around France.
ReplyDeleteVery beautiful float. Lemons seems to be abundant in your city. Have a nice weekend.
ReplyDeleteDo they eat the fruit after the parade?
ReplyDeleteI'm thirsty now.
Great shots, by the way.
Wow, that's amazing. How many lemons in this? Great photo anyway!
