Part of the facade of the Old Town taken from the far side of this beach. I've photographed the Old Town from this position before - for instance the banner of this blog - but with the new camera I have a far stronger zoom. Still learning the camera tho but don't you love the hodge-podge of colours and shapes and levels? I was shooting pretty much against the sun and for some reason, the effect is a little washed out but I still love it. Do you?
It's funny how on photograph can make one want to just pack up and hop on a plane.
ReplyDeleteThis one does that for me!
P
BEAUTIFUL!!!!

How superb Jilly. I love all the colours and the hodge podge nature of the buildings. I can't wait to see it.
ReplyDeleteBefore I read your question I decided that I LOVE this photo! It looks almost like a mosaic; you're going to have so much fun with your new camera!
ReplyDeleteAnymore picturesque and it'd be a painting! Delightful view. How could you not be completely nuts about Menton? :)
ReplyDeletebitingmidge, thats how i used to feel when I looked at this and the monte carlo photo blogs. i am so glad that orange/citrus festival is over. love this pic. and if i win the lottery tomorrow, i would come here.
ReplyDeleteRadman, I tried finding an active blog for you - to respond to your comment the other day. I couldn't find an active blog so please tell me if you have one. Like you I was getting sick to death of the Corso! But then I'd seen it and felt others might be interested with so many different acts participating - but yes, it probably did go on too long and towards the end I was longing to get back to reality and beautiful Menton. So we are back! I just adore photographing the Old Town and the beaches and life here - don't worry - if I cover the lemon festival next year, it'll be shorter! And only a few more days of the sculptures on Monte Carlo - by favourite is yet to come up...
ReplyDeleteOh wow. This is really colorful, Jilly. Remarkable.
ReplyDeleteThanks for visiting. I did fix the red X picture. It seems to be there now and is three ladies. One on the left is my grandmother. The lady who died after giving birth to my aunt.

ReplyDeleteLove the picture, the colors on the houses look amazing, pastel hill this place should be called. just beautiful.
ReplyDeleteYes, it's terrific. Two and a bit months!
ReplyDeleteIt has been my lifelong dream to visit Menton and spend a week there. Your photos tide me over until I can make that happen. I wish it were a quick trip from the Quercy, but it is not.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful patchwork of pastel colours. The washed out effect, as if by the sea, salt and sun, is really quite nice !
ReplyDeleteSo what is your new camera ?
Jilly, I never tire of seeing this facade. From any angle at any time of the day I think it would be beautiful.
ReplyDeleteI think the new camera is a little ripper, Jilly.
ReplyDelete(Nathalie; it's a Panasonic Lumix FZ 18, with an 18x zoom and Image Stabilization.)
Naturally it's nothing without a talented photographer !!!
You can now get right-in. And one can now almost read people's thoughts. The lady on the wall -26 March,- is thinking, "can't see anyone for miles who might be taking MY photo. My husband will never find out !!!"
I love the spectacular colors on the buildings. This is just sooo beautiful.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous!!!!
