The morning sun - hundreds of dots of light dancing on the sea is something I just love. Here, I've photographed somewhat against the sun - doubtless breaking rules - but I don't mind the steeples in shade. Do you?
This was taken just below the cemetery and looking over the Old Town and port.

There are no rules in photography. You did good.
ReplyDeleteIt's a gorgeous image, shaded steeples and all. Put me in mind of Nice, a place that always makes me smile. I could look at this all day. The Riviera, JUST LOVE IT.
ReplyDeleteBlah rules. If we stuck to every rule then we would have no fun, no ice cream and ... well no j-walking as well as the fun stuff like talking photos
ReplyDeleteIts a lovely photo, i think i could sit and look at the view every day and see something different (if it is in the rules that is)
That is a great photo of a beautiful setting!
ReplyDeleteWhats to mind? You took a beautiful picture.
ReplyDeleteje trouve que les couleurs du matin sont les plus belles. cela donne une belle et surprenante couleur rouge sur ta photo
ReplyDeleteThe sight of Menton's towers always charms and soothes me. Thank you, Jilly.
ReplyDeleteQuelle vue magnifique !! La vieille ville est tellement belle...
ReplyDeleteOne should always break rules, that's our sense of adventure.
ReplyDeleteAn adventure that validates one. The proof is in these comments. What fun. What a wonderful shot. What a superb nick of the woods in which to break all those silly rules.
(BTW: I bought a 43mm ultra-violet filter today for the FZ-18. Just to protect the lens and to add a little sharpness. On devrait en penser? )
The enlarged photo shows so much detail. Very interesting roof patterns. I could never get tired of looking at views like this one.
ReplyDeleteBon choix, lever ou coucher du soleil, peut importe le résultat est là...c'est magnifique et très agréable à regarder.
ReplyDeleteI too love the sun sparkling off the water. And what great roof tops to wake up to. Another great photo Jilly. Thanks for breaking the rules.
ReplyDeleteI need sunnnnn! It has been raining all the last night and all the day long here, and again and again...
ReplyDeleteI'd give anything to have this view in my sight!
ReplyDeleteSo pretty (and rules are made to be broken!)
ReplyDeleteI am very glad you decided to bend the rules today! Lovely photo!
ReplyDeleteI love this photo. The sea view goes very well with the houses. Very lovely.
ReplyDeleteI don't mind at all!
ReplyDeleteThis is a wonderful view.
There are no rules for creating a beautiful photo ... this is gorgeous!!
ReplyDelete19 comments say Rules???? Jilly, what are you talking about!!
ReplyDeleteI like the little glint of light on the dome. Don't you?
what rules!? :]
ReplyDeleteIf ever there was a reason to break a rule, this would be it Jilly. All those gorgeous terracotta roofs and the steeple in shade doesn't matter, it is as one would see it in real life. Just lovely.
ReplyDeleteI never tire of seeing shots like these...Menton's facade, Menton from above, Menton from below. Taken at any angle Menton is just such a pretty town.
ReplyDeleteI can only echo the others - there are no rules. I like the tumble of roofs down to the harbour - very mediterranean - and without the lighting it wouldn't have the same effect
