So you'd like to own a boat?

As you can see, owning a boat isn't all lazing about, sipping champagne and cultivating a tan. This couple spent Easter Saturday working on their boat in the old port of Menton.

I wouldn't be taking the photo today - we've had rain for two or three days and Gorbio is in thick fog. Sunshine tomorrow - according to the meteo. Hooray!

  1. One of my friends owns a boat in NYC and he said it costs a lot to keep it docked at the marina.

That said, I'm not much of a boat person. I guess I won't mind a nice lobster brunch on a boat but that's about all I want. :-)

I rather had both my feed on solid ground.

  2. Yes it is not easy to own a boat. Quit alot of hard work. We used to have a small motor cruiser moored on the River Avon in England. But we had to sell it as it was proving too costly (marina fees, river licence, etc).

Sorry for not visiting so recently. But have been VERY busy here in Toruń!

  7. You're absolutely right! And plastic boats aks less work than wooden ones...

  8. It's a lot of work and it's also a lot of pleasure. It's worth working.

  9. If someone took care of it ... ops, if I owned a boat of course that I would have someone to take care of it!

  10. Lots of work, that's right. And expensive, too. That's why we just rent a boat a few times during the season, let someone else worry about maintenance and expenses. ;)

  11. All hands below deck, is it? Nice to see a woman involved. This keel design is no big secret either. Outstanding path in the prior post.

  13. Owning a boat, for the average person, is like owning a horse, you have to like the work that goes with it. This is a great shot, by the way!

  16. But, I think the pleasure of the boat is well worth the effort. The woman doesn't look too unhappy about working on it, does she?

  17. I know all about it, but I think the effort is worth it - I get lots of enjoyment from my boat.

  18. Most things worth having, I believe, take a lot of work and money to maintain.

But then again... think of the enjoyment that comes after all the hard work!
