Here's another house in the hills above Menton - you can see how the garden is terraced with retaining walls to prevent the soil falling. Essential on slopes like this.
I wondered if the owner built the house according to fengshui. In Feng Shui, there is a saying – Mountain refers to people luck (i.e. health) while water refer to wealth luck. So the mountain behind the house protect the owner from strong wind, etc.
That's a beautiful spot for a house! Looks might hard to climb though—hope there's another way up.

ReplyDeleteBeautiful unsophisticated houses. The best! In Languedoc, we name these terraces:"las Courejas"
Excellent for stepping and jogging every morning.
Perhaps, somewhere,an heliport and helicopters should be useful too!..
Nice looking homes and the terraces are familiar to me from my days in Japan.
ReplyDeleteThe people that live there must be in great shape! Walking up and down those steps all the time would be lots of exercise!!
ReplyDeleteCrittoria took the words out of my mouth! (or off my fingers!)
ReplyDeleteOut of curiosity. . . . What is the cost of one of those?
I can only imagine what it must be like to go to bed in this house, as the night comes to life.
