Summertime in Menton - the Boat Trip - 1

Messing about in boats - one of the joys of summertime in Menton. Great if you own a boat and perhaps even better if you've a friend with one. I'm one of those very lucky people to have a good friend with a boat - but hey, you are invited too - so let's go...

You've brought the swimmers, a towel, the suntan lotion. Everyone contributes something towards lunch. I've just picked up a fruit tart from that good pâtisserie in Carnoles and there's a chilled bottle of Pinot Grigio in the 'cold' bag. What will you bring?

We've boarded, stowed our gear - the food is in the refrigerator -shortly we'll leave our berth in the harbour. We are looking the length of the Port of Garavan - you can see the steeples of the beautiful Old Town of Menton on the left.

Tomorrow - the open sea - en route to a bay in Italy, where we'll meet up with another boat - friends from Monaco. We'll tie up together for a relaxing day out.

I would have packed some Dramamine.

Having said that, your photography is so nice, Jilly. It captures the colors and intensity of the harbor so very well.

I crossed the Pacific on a bigger boat and went to Iwo Jima on a smaller boat and if I had to choose a way to go somewhere it would be #1. Walk. #2. Fly. #3. Drive.

  3. A nice baguette and delicious French cheese. That's really not fair you know. Here we all are looking at the beautiful photo and reading your enticing commentary and we're stuck at home.

Thank you Jilly for your notes. I hope that you'll learn something more about Iran other than what the media would always like you to believe. I think we can be good friends, yes?
    Thank you again.

  9. Well, I cooked you a lasagne and packed some nice wine. Blow me down; you've left without me !!

Just have to sit here and gorge myself, looking at the fabulous view. I reckon I can pick out Gorboi in the distance.

Just like being in Adelaide; minus the sun, the sea, the sky, the scenery and the sheer thrill of it all.

Bon voyage à vous tout !!!

  10. I may be a little late, but I hope you have room for one more. I'll mix up some mint juleps so we can have a New Orleans flair to it.

Thank you for your kin comments on http://NewOrleansDailyPhoto.blogspot.com

This week I have a new batch of bird photos to show. Today, Momma zooms in between the trees, belly full and ready to feed her brood.

  11. :) Would love to find a friend with a boat large enough to live on. This is still a goal in my life - to spend 6 - 12 months living on a boat.

  14. Say hello to your lovely boating frineds from us!!

Happy quartorze juillet! (A bit late, I know!) . I’ve made a small tribute today, via an unexpected Australia-France friendship symbol, and a small quiz to help celebrate.

  16. Jilly I forgot to tell you that I like this photo very much. It reminds me my trip to Larnaca, Cyprus on April. I had taken a similar photo there. Look at this
