Summertime in Menton - Festival Créole!
Summertime in Menton means Fêtes galore - in Menton itself or in the surrounding hilltop villages. The Tango festival is over and, suddenly, we are into Créole - and how wonderful it is. Dance, music, clothes, food, wondrous drinks - great people - everyone having the best time.
Here you see some of the dancers crossing the road and walking back to their digs in the Old Town.
magnifique,j'adore les fêtes créoles, tu vas pouvoir nous faire plein de superbes photos de costumes traditionnel et de danses.

Wonderful pictures - I am so glad I found your blog. We discovered Menton in April this year, and are going back end September - is there anything we should be looking out for?
ReplyDeleteLynne
Wonderful costumes and colors.
ReplyDeleteWhat is the equivalent word for "muffin top" for the too tight dress the lass is wearing? In yesterday's post we learned the roll of fat above tight jeans was "muffin top," and I'm curious if the same expression applies in this picture?

ReplyDeleteThere's so much to see and do in Menton - probably go to the tourist office first - or the Maison de Patrimone (in the walking street) and pick up one of their guides to what is going on during the time you are here. That is a start. First there is Menton and the wonderful old town - you can visit some of the hill villages like Gorbio, Roquebrune, Castellar, St. Agnes, or you can cross the border and enjoy Italy. Equally you can put on your glad rags and hope a bus to Italy.
Whoops, I meant to write 'hop bus to Monaco - it's so near.'
ReplyDeleteFor some reason, I'm having trouble posting on your blog today, but I'll try again. The tiers and the hoop on the skirt make the dress very fetching. As a teen-ager I would have loved to dress up in that outfit.!
ReplyDeleteThere are so many fantastic aspects to that photo!!
ReplyDeleteI'm with Abe on how hot and uncomfortable that costume looks. I'll bet she can hardly wait to get out if it. On second thought, she's halfway there!
ReplyDeletewhat coloful costumes those people are wearing!
ReplyDeleteBtw, you have a great blog with wonderful pictures.
Salut!
Ooh, that festival looks and sounds so fun and exciting!
ReplyDeleteWow the costume looked beautiful. Must be a exciting and interesting festival.
ReplyDeleteGreat colors and textures in this image.
ReplyDeleteWe almost came to Menton yesterday as my sister wanted to visit again but the air con wasn't working in the car so we chickened out. I regret it now having seen these lovely photos..
ReplyDeleteThanks Jilly - we got the train to Ventimiglia last time, great fun!
