The Yellow Pages
The wedding is over. Life goes on. The telephone directories were delivered a few weeks ago - not an easy task for Crystelle - Gorbio's pretty young post lady. The village is steep, little roads branch off in all directions. Hard work lugging a load of annuaires, I'd think.
Here you see an old door to a cellar - one that looks as if it wouldn't be easy to open. Come to think of it, some of the services offered in the Yellow Pages might just be rather useful...but I hope not. I love this old door. Notice the door step - simply a tree trunk.
The small photo shows telephone directories outside a house, located higher in this perched medieval village.
That looks very strange on the old door step. I thought leaving the phone books at the door was something they only did in the States. We have competing companies that do it now, so we get probably 3 different books, and really dont use any of them.
ReplyDeleteCrystelle would have pretty strong legs, what, with all those hills.
ReplyDeleteCome to think of it, so would everyone !!
New alongside the old. Interesting contrast.
ReplyDeleteHere the phne books are delivered by contractors in vans and thrown onto the front verandah - not placed nicely like this. The personal touch provided by Crystelle is enviable.
ReplyDeleteJe ne suis pas sur que les habitants de cette maison ont le téléphone
ReplyDeleteLOve your last two shots. In Belgrade, we get phone books, but not often. But there's a good information line if you can't find someone's number!
ReplyDeleteThe phone book is almost like an intrusion on this lovely, worn threshold.
ReplyDeleteI'm amazed that they are called the yellow pages and that the post office delivers them in France.
ReplyDeleteWow. I do feel sorry for the post lady as well! Here in Jamaica we have to collect them from the telephone company or their agents (supermarkets, usually).
ReplyDeleteYour phone directories get delivered? Lucky you. We have to go the phone company's office to get ours.
ReplyDeleteI love the old door and door step too. I love old wood. Make that, I love wood.
