So many beautiful Créoles in Menton last week. Here's a young beauty waiting for people to buy her produce. More gorgeous dreadlocks as per the guy you saw yesterday.
The tablecloth you see seems to be traditional. Nearly all the stalls were decorated with this same checked pattern.

Yes, she's beautiful, and I love her hair.

She's very pretty, there is fun in Menton during summertime !!
ReplyDeleteNice portrait, Jilly.
ReplyDeleteLovely pose JIlly.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful!
ReplyDeleteShe is gorgeous. The braids or dreads are lovely too.
ReplyDeleteI quite like the tablecloth too, traditional or not.
I love your series of portraits there. My preference goes to the "Creole beauty", a fantastic one, and yesterday's rasta guy.
ReplyDeleteI can't say I'm a big fan of dreadlocks but if you come back in another life with rasta hair, I'll ask you: can I touch, please ?
Your choice for the metal theme was excellent !!!
ReplyDeleteI love the colorful backdrop she is standing in front of - it adds a lot to this portrait. Well done!
ReplyDeleteI always wondered how they did their hair. I wish I had that much hair. Lovely photo.
ReplyDeleteJilly I think her hair is just two strand twisted as opposed to being dreadlocked. The front is "corn rowed" or as we call it here in Jamaica, "cane rowed" because the rows resemble corn/cane rowes in a field.
ReplyDeleteIt's interesting to see these creoles in Menton. I don't know why but I never expected to see very many brown skinned people and especially West Indian brown skinned people in Menton.
This looks like a really interesting festival!
I am catching up....what lovely photos you captured.....I guess I never considered a Creolian festival before! Love the dreadlocks...but not on me!!!
ReplyDeleteCatching up, too. Been away for a while. These people are so beautiful, and I would love to visit their area of the world.
ReplyDeleteSome cultures are so vibrant with colour, which makes their crafts and they themselves so very attractive!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful portrait I love the faraway look in her eyes.
ReplyDeleteSuch a beauty. I wonder what lies ahead for her . . .
