Autumn - the Catamaran
A catamaran on the beach just along from the Sablettes. This is at the foot of the Old Town.
My photography book says 'never have the horizon in the centre of a photograph.' So, when I looked at this on the screen I hesitated, but rules are made to be broken. I wanted to show you the shadows on the beach and I wanted you to see that blue sky - so...

Great shot, Jilly.
ReplyDeleteFirst the horizon is not smack in the middle and second, the shadow on the beach and interesting tree on the right break the space in very interesting ways. Glad you followed your intuition, this was definitely worth posting!
I loved the energy in your wind shot yesterday and then the Blessing - what a wonderful name and what an adorable face. I love your portraits Jilly!
ReplyDeleteOh Jilly rules are meant to be broken and this is a great photo so tell all the rule makers to get a life!!
ReplyDeleteGosh - better go back and have a look at my sea/sky shot to see if I've followed the rule!!
Who needs rules. Great shot.
ReplyDeleteA very peaceful scene. I could stretch out with a good book ther for hours.
ReplyDeleteWell I didn't know that and thinking about it I guess it makes sense but as Natalie says you've broken it up with the boat so the rule doesn't apply here.
ReplyDeleteBeautifully atmospheric shot. I'm enjoying your summer themes,
Find a photography rule I haven't broken. Some days I break more than one! This is a great shot and I agree, the rule doesn't apply here.
ReplyDeletesi tu veux t'amuser voila un site qui te propose des exercices pour savoir si tu respectes bien les règles.
ReplyDeleteDéclenchez-moi Amuse toi bien, c'est pas facile
You're right - "Rules are made to be broken" - and this is a great example of why...in this case the horizon is perfect in the center...
ReplyDeleteThere are rules!? This is just great! Nobody ever tells me anything.
ReplyDeleteThis looks like paradise.
Breaking rules is the best thing about rules! Lovely shot. Looks like a superb day.
ReplyDeleteI should probably read a photography book or something as I have never heard that about the horizon before! A lovely photo, Jilly!!!
ReplyDeleteSometimes you need to tear up the rule book!
ReplyDeleteThanks for visiting me at Sydney Daily Photo while I was away. I’m back from Queensland now and transmission should resume as normal.
Today's post is just for you....

ReplyDeleteI really like this shot. thanks
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you kept the shadows. I feel like I am standing right there.
