This is the Place des Deux Frères in the medieval village of Roquebrune. We've just had dinner at this restaurant, La Grotte, which is cut deep into the rock itself. Above, you see the brightly lit crenelations of the donjon, built in 970.

Wow! Really great blogs. Menton & Monte Carlo! I spent a long time looking at all the older shots on Monte Carlo. & Pension Milou (very-cute dog photos). I'll be coming back.

ReplyDeletela vue est superbe, et très belle photo de nuit.
ReplyDeleteHow fabulous - tanya's right, it's a big deal here to see a building from the 1700s. And that's an interesting structure! Great capture with the night lighting.
ReplyDeleteOh wow, everything about this is fabulous! The building cut into the rock, the tower, the lights, your photo — everything is just fantastic!
ReplyDeleteSuperb, I love the red effect of the lights. It is a beautiful place. I'd love to have a meal here.
ReplyDeleteOh wow,
ReplyDeleteThis one knocked my flip flops off too. I enlarged it and it is so amazing. THe color and light is the icing on the cake.
PS> I could read every word of Olivier's comment without my Fr/Eng dictionary! Yippee
Quel bel éclairage ! C'est splendide !
ReplyDeleteHow dramatic and eerie it looks in that light. If a pirate dashed across the scene I wouldn't be at all surprised.
