Beau's Vote!
Meet my dog, Beau - happy to loan one of his long ears to support Obama on this, America's election day.
Beau lived in a refuge in the Var for four years - he was called Bimbo then but I changed it to Beau the day we drove home together. He is a Bruno de Jura - a Swiss hunting dog - and the origin of the Bloodhound (you can see the resemblance I think). Three weeks after coming home Beau had both ear drums removed to try and cut down on the massive infections he had. He was four and a half hours on the table. He still gets abscesses from time to time but now he's a pretty healthy dog and this is his chair - which used to be 'my' chair. Huh! He's happy and so am I to have him here. He's a wonderful, funny dog with a howl you'd not believe. He's lived with me in Gorbio for 18 months and is probably about 10 years old although really no one knows his age or history. Taking him from the refuge was the best thing I ever did. Always rescue a dog from a refuge - there are so many and they reward you a trillion-fold. I adore this funny ol' boy.
Happy Election Day, America! Beau and I will be sitting up late and watching the results. If the polls are right, we want to be part of history in the making and welcome President Barack Obama, who I know is going to so good for America and the world. It's time for CHANGE!
See how you can vote with candies on Monte Carlo Daily Photo.
un supporteur culte pour Obama, j'espère qu'il n'oubliera pas d'aller voter ;o)
ReplyDeleteAs you know Patty and I voted for Obama over a month ago by absentee ballot. I hope he makes it. I have not yet actually prayed that he makes it but will if things get closer than a landslide for Obama.
ReplyDeleteThe Devil has really been nasty since He started wearing a Republican mask so more evil would not surprise me.
I love Beau. I am so glad you got him and have been able to take care of him and fix his ears so he is not in constant misery. I had a bout of "no more dogs! we got a cat now" yelping when I mentioned again, to my wife about getting a dog from the shelter. She doesn't want to potty train them or take them to the vets or go through the separation agony when they get sick or die. We have both done that a lot and I am trying to stay dog free so I don't get my heart broken again upon losing another dog. But I break down, from time to time, and want a new dog.
So I have promised myself a new dog when my daughter and granddaughter and their cat with the sissy name, "Baby Kitty," moves out in June 2009.
PS:
I am learning to like the cat.
We're with you all the way Beaubama!
ReplyDeleteGive Beau a great big cuddle from Ben! Remember him sitting lying on your lounge with all those dogs!!!
What a handsome and smart dog! And, what a lovely rescue story. I'd love to shake Beau's paw and give him a pat on his beautiful head.
ReplyDeleteOh I love Beau, he's adorable and I'm so happy your rescued him and gave him a great home!
ReplyDeleteWhat does "Bimbo" mean there? It's not a very nice term here...Beau is more fitting :)
I love it. Not only is Beau a handsome guy, he's also smart!
ReplyDeletePlease keep your fingers crossed. The election is not over yet.
YES WE CAN!
I'd imagine a deaf bloodhound would have an interesting howl!
ReplyDeleteHe's a lucky guy,

I so deeply agree with you! I think Obama would represent just the change the usa need and he'd do good for Africa as well.
ReplyDeleteBeau is a lucky dog!
Beaubama, now that's a good one! I love his face. I want to give him a big smoochey smooch! I get lonesome from time to time and wish for another dog, but I'm like Abe, don't think I could lose another one. My golden retriever Baxter was my best friend....damn! pass the Kleenex Abe!

Merci Jilly and Beau! Boz and I and America thank you for your good wishes. I am so excited to vote today I couldn't sleep!
ReplyDeleteHow cute is he!! and he looks quite comfy in your former chair!
ReplyDeleteHe's lovely. I can't imagine getting a dog from anywhere but a rescue org, or the street. Speaking of ears, I volunteer at a boxer rescue and there's one little girl who had to have both ear flaps removed due to infection. She looks strange on the first meeting, but is so loving and sweet the look grows on you.
ReplyDeleteObama!! Yeh, Beau knows a good thing! He is adorable!! I love his face!
ReplyDeleteSi Barack a aussi le soutien des chien l'affaire est dans le sac
ReplyDeleteSmart dog!
ReplyDelete;-)
Hooray for Beau!
ReplyDeleteAnd you too Jilly!!!!!!!
Here's to change!

Thanks for visiting me in SD. Beau looks like a wonderful companion and it's nice to know that he and I are like minded too! I'm impressed that you got campaign stickers all the way in Menton - did friends from the US bring it to you or are Obama stickers readily available there?
ReplyDeleteFelicia, I was in Ohio in June. My best buddy has been working for the Obama campaign. Anyway I picked up a sticker there.
ReplyDeleteYes, our rescue kitten (now a big cat) took over our foot stool on his arrival, and my feet have never rested on it since!
ReplyDeleteYour dog is so cute and looks happy to be supporting the hopeful winner. I'll be watching too and I have my fingers crossed for history in the making.
I hope Beau picked a winner, but we'll know in a few hours.
ReplyDeleteBeau is such a handsome fellow.
ReplyDeleteIt is wonderful to hear a happy story once in awhile and Beau's story is indeed a good one.
Got the good news this morning.
ReplyDeleteBeau voted right! I'm so happy!
Yippee!!!!!
I'm with Beau! Today is a great day!
ReplyDeleteThis is a beautiful photo and a wonderful dog!
ReplyDeleteBeau is certainly beautiful. He could be a TV or movie star. Those eyes & ears! Fab!
ReplyDeleteBeau's a handsome, healthy looking fella who is doing his part to change things for the better!
ReplyDeleteAlso agree fully about the need for folks to get their dogs (pets) from a refuge.
It is, indeed, a new day, Jilly!
He is just lovely: Beau for President!!
