one of the most beautiful towns on the French Riviera
Just to prove we do have an autumn, here you see a rather grey day with fallen leaves from the plane trees (sycamores) in Place des Herbes.

I love the gentle greens with all the yellow and tan and gray. It suggests a toasty coziness, whatever the temp may be.
ReplyDeleteLes feuilles mortes se ramassent à la pelle... oh how I love this song by Yves Montand !
ReplyDeleteWe get the same leaves here except in tall piles! In just a couple of days the strong mistral wind tore more than half the leaves away from the trees and swirls created huge mountains of leaves in some places - ready to be collected!
The mistral finally receeded today and we're experiencing calm and sunny weather. What a change!
I am moving away from daily posting as from now. Too demanding. I need to work harder to make a living. I plan to post every other day this week and probably only twice a week as from next week. Hopefully I'll still be able to sneak in a few visits to Menton during the week.
Hummmmm un restaurant de fruits de mer...............
ReplyDeleteI too was reminded of Prevert's poem and Yves Montand's song...
ReplyDeleteI miss autumn in France...and spring...and summer...and winter...and yes, even the Mistral that chilled me in Aix-en-Provence so many years ago.
Lovely photo; worth crouching for!
Glad Chuck helped you out with the motorcycle i.d.!
The beige tones all blend so well together in this photo, very nice!
ReplyDeleteGreat shot. What a pleasing little corner to relax and maybe have lunch.
ReplyDeleteI like the leaves on the ground.... :)
ReplyDeleteAnd normally covered in 'tourists' as well and musicians occasionaly.
ReplyDeleteI miss Menton.
I like autumn in South France with people still eating on a terrace.... Here in Belgium, it's just impossible.... Even the during the last "summer".
ReplyDeleteJean-Michel
The detail on this photo is amazing, especially the curled leaves and the bark on the tree trunk, I love it. It also reminds me of a very pleasant hour spent having coffee with you on a hot Sunday morning in July
ReplyDeleteI love the angle, colors and detail on this picture. I remember this small square well. Isn't there a Patisserie near by (Boulangerie Pâtisserie Suisse)? We were staying in the old town and I'd walk down by here for fresh croissants in the morning. Yummmm....
ReplyDeleteDespite the indian summer, we are having the same street scenery here.
ReplyDeletePlace des Herbes looks gorgeous and so is your photo!
Beautiful photo Jilly.
ReplyDeleteI love this view!!! It brings back special memories....
ReplyDeletehate to say it but this is nothing compared to the amount of leaves everywhere here
ReplyDeleteI am very impressed at your crouching/squatting skills. But then when you're 21 as you are, knees aren't a problem ;-)
ReplyDeletewell together in this photo, very nice!
