A Menton Christmas - the Big Wheel

It's Christmas, so that means a Big Wheel - somewhat incongruous with the steeples of the Old Town.

Christmas also means pots - hundreds and hundreds of them from north Africa - probably Tunisia or Morocco. They will stay here, day and night, until sold.

  3. Pots please, but no grand roue pour moi. Peter tried to talk me into riding the one at TUileries. No thanks, I wouldn't be able to open my eyes and look down I'm afraid.

  4. Those pots are lovely. I could use two or three for my back yard.

  5. We went on the big wheel when it was in Menton a couple of years ago. It was really good value for 2€. The views were tremendous.

Jilly, pick a nice day and take your camera. In fact, go round twice, once facing forwards and once backwards. You will get some great pictures.

  6. Oh, how I would love to be there with that blue sky but I would want to buy lots of pots and I think I would have a problem getting them home on Jet2!Just looked again and realised what a clever photo this is.

  7. Don, I will take your advice and go up in the Wheel. I'd not thought about going up twice, sitting in different positions. Good thinking. The seats are just beautiful - I'll show those in close up another day. Thanks.

  8. How much would one of those large urns retail for, Jilly. I was at my local pot bazaar just yesterday and urns there are outrageously priced. Our pots often come from Vietnam - the ones I can afford.

  9. At the thumbnail size, I momentarily thought the pots were cemetery markers, with the Ferris Wheel giving a view of them! Anyway, it looks like when your weather clears, it really clears.

  10. Great shot. Especially like all those pots making this picture look African (without looking at the green grass).
Menton lies on the French Riviera?? Never heard of it before.

  13. I'd be up for it. This is just stunning so much going on in this image against that gorgeous blue backdrop. The pots are a nice lead into the image too. Fabulous shot.

  14. How unfortunate and sad that these pots were broken by the winds you mentioned today. Lots of work destroyed by Mother Nature.
