A Menton Christmas - the Moose

'Of all the wonders of nature, a tree in summer is perhaps the most remarkable; with the possible exception of a moose singing "Embraceable You" in spats.'

- Woody Allen

  3. It's just a child's toy. Don't believe there is any significance re France. This and many other lovely soft toys are available at the Cave de Gorbio (see Mother and Daughter post and also the one called Owls.

  8. I'm a big Woody Allen fan, I've read Getting Even and Without Feathers, I have his live album from 30 something years ago and I've seem all his movies but I don't recall every hearing that quote.

Oh, and Jilly, Canada has a copyright on mooses and you'll be hearing from our lawyer.

  9. Oh, the essence of cuteness! Our family goes more for things with silicon chips and semiconductors in them. However, I got my son (of Chicago Flair DPB) a half-meter long working wooden model of a Roman military catapult. Now if that ain't cute...

  10. I can only apologise for cutting and pasting this comment, but there was no way on Earth I would be able to make it around the whole globe to wish everybody a Merry Christmas otherwise. I have only one pair of hands and the magical elves that I have working for me are a bunch of lazy good-for-nothings. All they do is sit around smoking, playing cards and throwing rocks at the reindeer!

Anyway, from myself, Henry and Ezra, have a Merry Christmas/Winter Solstice/Hanukkah/Festivus and a happy New Year!

I hope that all of your holiday photos turn out to be triumphs, and may your stocking be stuffed full of lots of tasty treats and not coal!
