The Old Town - Gourds

One tumbled, decorated gourd. Next time I walked past this window, the gourd had been put back in its proper place.

  1. We sometimes grow gourds here, Jilly, and often use them when dry to make different kinds and sizes of bird houses. I like them for water dippers.

  4. I like having gourds in the house for autumn decorations but I've never seen them painted like this before. Its a good idea :)

  5. I have a friend back in Georgia who paints gourds. This is such a beautiful photo. You always stumble into the perfect photo opportunity or you must always be looking at life like the perfect photo!

  8. I agree with some of the other comments, Jilly: you have a good eye for detail. Shame the gourd was lifted back into position.

I also find it sad that they are painted: I like the shape and the texture just as they come naturally. But then ... I am not into spraying pinecones red and green and silve either. Each is own I guess ...
