The Donkey Track to Gorbio - Leaving Home
Today, we start the walk to the village of Gorbio via the old donkey path - at one time the only access to this perched medieval village. And no, we are not yet on it, we are simply on the track leading from my house. We've had an encouraging cup of coffee, we've got our walking shoes on - and off we go. We've already walked up one part of my track (much steeper than the part you see here) and very good for those thigh muscles, ladies! When we get to the top we'll turn left, walk past the mail box and be on our way.
Tomorrow - we take a look at the village from below.
It looks like a well walked track! I like the way the light/shaddow falls across the front of the path (bottom of photo) and how it captures the foliage on the sides. Nice pic! Thanks for visiting my blog!
ReplyDeleteThe track looks rather nostalgic in deed
ReplyDeleteo what a lovely pathway
ReplyDeleteOho, so we had the passage yesterday (beautiful) and the path today. Both are just lovely, and so typical of the region.
ReplyDeleteOkey dokey ... boots are on ... got my poking stick in hand ... just need my scarf and I be ready
ReplyDeleteLooking forward to this ...
Très bucolique. J'ai un petit chemin qui sent la noisette pas loin de chez moi et qui ressemble très fort à ce petit chemin-ci.
ReplyDeleteVery interesting. Would like to know what is at the end of the track.
ReplyDeleteYou'll have to imagine me gasping for breath here, Jilly, but my thighs are like steel. I feel very sorry for those poor donkeys...I hope there's a good view from the top of that slope.
ReplyDeleteIsn't it great to have such a lovely path close by? :-)
ReplyDeleteThis is great. I need a good long walk!
ReplyDeleteHow lovely. Do we get to see the donkey anytime?
ReplyDeleteThigh muscles??? Oh yes, I had some of those once. Let me get my walking shoes on I'll be right there. I'll be the one lagging behind!!

This track could be a bit tricky with snow and ice. I bet that doesn't happen all to often, right? ;)
ReplyDeleteAs I look at this tempting track, I remember reading about your gardening decision to have only plants that made do with natural streams, or rain - no watering. If these are your "wilds," your gardens could well be quite lush with only nature's water.
ReplyDeleteGot my New Balance sneakers on...let's go!
ReplyDeleteI have just run across your blog and find it very interesting and I think a perfect way to see more of your area. It looks very beautiful there. I will be a follower so that I can try to keep up. :-)
ReplyDeleteMust wear sport shoes on above track
