one of the most beautiful towns on the French Riviera
We plod on. The track has narrowed, many fallen rocks, so single file here, as you see in the smaller photo. And we follow the orange arrow - ever upwards, upwards.
Tomorrow, we are nearly there...really.

Fantastic! This is so much fun!
ReplyDeleteAre the skies clearing up where you are? They certainly are here, thanks to a hellish mistral...
Thanks for your comment on my blog and for coming up with urban protest, I'm pretty happy with that. I couldn't find the English word for the French contestation so settled for a direct translation but I completely agree that protest is more likely to be understood. I'm grateful for your help!
It's fascinating how much more satisfaction there is in accomplishing a challenging project. Your track is quite hard work, Jilly, for me. I'm not as fit as I used to be...
ReplyDeleteI think I can understand why you just pop up there in the car!
ReplyDeleteWho paints the orange arrow: the Mairie? There have been no walkers thus far: is it rarely used?
I do love the moss on the rocks in the smaller photo.
What a beautiful trail this is. I'd love to be hiking up it right now.
ReplyDeleteWonderful path! The 1st shot is lovely!
ReplyDeleteThis is really a risky climb or so it looks like it to me. I can only remember one climb that looked worse and that was in the mountains of West Virginia and we had to drive part way on a road where one side of the road had washed away but there was still enough room to squeeze the car through. Some people wouldn't ride and would get out first and walk past the narrow place and let the drive do it alone.
ReplyDeleteI can see that you need to be sure-footed in this area. Very pretty.
ReplyDeleteI imagine the weather is perfect for the ascent.
ReplyDeleteI'm sure your effort will be rewarded by a wonderful sight at the top. And gorgeous pictures. You deserve it.
Just enough danger to make the climbing attractive.
I'm impatient to follow you in your next step to the top. Hope the track won't get narrower, still !
Nice day for walking. Great that you have this lovely option for visiting Gorbio when you choose. About how far have we walked now from your place?
ReplyDeleteThese switchbacks in stone are amazing. It's a fun trek. I'm glad we are not behind the gentleman from yesterday, although I am certainly not as swift as I used to be on hikes!

I think I'll wait in a cafe for your return.
ReplyDeleteIsn't congratulations in order for your anniversary!!
Bravo. I enjoy checking your website frequently. Great trail.
ReplyDeleteJulie, yes, the Mairie would paint the arrow. And Raf, I really don't know how far we've walked or the total distance.
ReplyDeleteThe drive by car on the main road is around 2.5 to 3 ks. This is much more direct, of course, so I'd guess maybe 1.5 ks - really not very far but of course it's uphill nearly all the way which makes it seem longer! The thing to do it take it slowly!
