Place Captain Vincent - The Listener
Two older men in the medieval hill village of Roquebrune - one doing all the talking, the other patient, listening, considering what is being said. We all need a friend who listens.
Note the steep staircase leading to the upper floors - no wonder the old people are so fit.
The listener is wearing a wedding band. Perhaps he has had many years of practice in listening. These are both beautiful photos.

ReplyDeleteWe should all do more walking but marketing, being what it is, comes up with things like television to keep our butts parked. A blog friend of mine was captured by the Japanese when she was a small girl and she and her mom survived. Now, she lives in her native Holland and she rides a bike to her place of business. The Dutch are famous for their bike riding. And she does it in rain or snow.
ReplyDeleteWe no longer have steps here. Most Americans, like my wife of 53 years, would not let me buy a two-story house because she didn't want to climb stairs.
The photograph is excellent and the story line fits it perfectly. You are becoming something of a genius with pen and camera.

I really love this photo. Your commentary goes perfectly with it and gives us all food for thought. this is really a great capture of humanity at its best.

The comments are grand today. HA I love both of these. I have an "old Frenchmen" fetish if you remember from my Paris photos so this thrilled me. The smaller photo is very interesting. What if you cropped out some of the foreground and tried BW? I love the photo and it might be fun to play with it. Just a great capture Jilly. One of my favorites!

A true symbiotic relationship. One needs to talk and have someone listen. The other needs to hear and have someone talk. Perfect.
ReplyDeleteThat's such a great shot. And you can write your own story. I think the talker is telling the listener about how his son, the doctor, just won an award for microsurgery and may be nominated for the Nobel Prize.

The color is fabulous - that pale pink wall against the light green jacket and tan slacks of the man on the right knocks me out. Excellent work.
