The Kiss
As I walked towards the steps that lead to Place des Herbes from the market area, I saw this couple kiss. Now whilst I always have my camera ready, I was too late for the moment. So I asked them if they'd kiss again - and they did. Great people!
We chatted for a short while. They were visiting Menton from Lyon, where they live. Since then, I've sent them a copy of this photograph - and now, here you are again, Florence and Patrick. Come back to Menton soon!
Is not a kiss the very autograph of love? - Henry Finck
c'est beau l'amour et ta photo lui rend hommage, avec une préférence pour la version b&w

Seuls au monde !!
ReplyDeleteYou must have a way about yourself that pleases most people. A lot of photographers would not ask since almost everything done in public is thought to be in the public domain. Anyway, glad you asked. It is a delightful picture.
ReplyDeleteI love it!
ReplyDeleteAbe is absolutely right about your way with people. And "delightful" is the right adjective for your photo.
ReplyDeleteThe B&W is very romantic.
ReplyDeleteI love the color version, but the cropped b&w tells the story so much more concisely. I'm smiling, smiling, smiling. Thank you for this post.
ReplyDeletespectacular capture. I love the black and white. this photo just makes you smile!
ReplyDeleteLovely photo. I like that it shows that love and kisses are not just for the young and it's nice to see it expressed. Cheers to Florence and Patrick!
ReplyDeleteDon't you love the graciousness of people when a photographer approaches? I enjoy the age of this couple who are still affectionate in public. I also noted that one glass is full and the other is empty. One could weave a story around that!!
ReplyDeleteIt doesn't look like they minded recreating the moment for you at all. ;-) I'd say they were glad for the chance to kiss again! An absolutely wonderful moment that you have captured here, Jilly.
ReplyDeleteThey were very kind, and in love.
ReplyDeleteLike some others I prefer the B&W.
It attracts attention on them both. Wonderful portrait of love.
I always enjoy your "people photos" and this one is especially nice.
ReplyDeleteGreat photo! Such a happy, playful kiss!
ReplyDeleteThis photograph is so evocative! I could write a history from it... but of course I would start with, "Patrick and Florence from Lyons leaned together to share a kiss, at their favorite cafe table in Menton."
ReplyDeletei love this...kissing is sometimes underrated.
ReplyDeleteHow lovely (in lots of ways). I also like the b&w but then again, the colour tells a wider picture.
ReplyDeleteI'm mending, Jilly, but it's slow progress.
I was thinking what Abe said. How wonderful that they were happy to repeat their kiss for you!
ReplyDeleteThat is a great photo, especially in the b&w version, Jilly!!
ReplyDeleteOh, that is so cool. I love it. And I think the bw version is the better one. I also send/give photos to people who oblige me!
ReplyDeleteAwwww! I'd be happy to repeat a kiss I think!!! :)
ReplyDeleteAnother great Jilly portrait.

Oh, j'adore !
ReplyDeleteI love linkwithin - it really gives you a chance to get back to some wonderful older posts.
ReplyDeleteThese two look amazingly like each other. Have they aged together gracefully or is a new couple that really hit it off?
