La Fête du Citron (Music of the World) - the Steeple
Our last day at the Fête du Citron. There are always more photographs but it's time to move on - other joys of Menton await.
The beautiful steeple of the Basilica (see small photo) is something I can never resist snapping - so here's the orange and lemon version. You can see the full version HERE.
Tomorrow - we leave the world of citrus and we see ... the Kiss.
je suis toujours sous le charme et quel travail, sublime ?
ReplyDeletela contrebasse est magnifique
Jilly, I would like to thank-you for showing me this years Fete du Citron. I have been unable to attend this year, but I have been able to enjoy it through your wonderful photographs. Thank you.
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad you posted a photo of the real steeple next to the lemon and orange one, it allows us to see the beautiful job that was done copying the original. It's fantastic!
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry I haven't commented for a while, I was frightfully busy with my slide show but I have to tell you I loved the humour of your medieval SMS and the very suggestive pose of "les bottes". Dear oh dear, just seeing the look on peoples' faces - priceless!!!
I love that bell in the lemon and orange steeple. Your Fete du Citron series has been such a treat. Thank you!
ReplyDeleteI can't imagine they'd be able to top these creations next year.
ReplyDeleteWhat do they do with the fruit when the festival is over?

Thanks so much for the comments. Bibi, every year I say that and every year they top it. Always astounds me. I think next year's theme will be Cinema of the World. They sell the oranges and lemons that are in good enough condition - very cheap - they go for jams and wine.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful photo of funny (and spectacular) objects! The colors are so bright against the blue sky...
ReplyDeleteThe festival is truly a collection of creative and beautiful citrus sculptures.
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed your Fête du Citron photos this year. It is enjoyable to have history and recognize familiar sites and events.
ReplyDeleteAnother great series. The steeple is gorgeous! And how are Les Girls these days? Behaving I hope.
