Rue Longue - the Photographer's Assistant

The little girl is being filmed but it is she who is telling the photographer how to use the camera.

Before I zoomed in on this beautiful child, I was attempting to take a photograph of Rue Longue in relation to the old port and the beach. About half way down Rue Longue there is this gap in the houses. You see the steps that go down to the lower level and the sea. These steps - or 'rampes' - continue on the other side of Rue Longue - to our right - climbing ever higher and enabling us to reach the Parvis St. Michel and Basilica.

At the base of the steps that you see in this photo, you will find THIS.

  1. Wonderful (and amusing) capture. These rampes and the Parvis are a fascinating part of Menton and the Rue Longue.

  4. She's positioned like Christina (of 'Christina's World'). And look at that white purse of hers. This is a child who knows her business. Terrific shots and seeing where the steps lead makes me begin to feel I'm getting oriented in Menton.

  5. When I enlarged it, I became so enthralled with the texture and color of the old walls, I almost forgot to look at the girl! Great street portrait today as always Jilly.

  8. She does know what she wants...fantastic. I may not comment much but I see your great pix every day in thumbnails on blog & in my reader. But I finally just had to come over full-stop. (Dial-up is teeth grindingly slow). Wonderful shots, Jilly.

  9. Sorry for not visiting recently. I have been kinda busy and distracted lately. It seems like all I have time to do is post a photo and go to bed.

Anyway, great job on the closeup of the girl in the photo. It looked like a painting.

  10. How interesting---I wonder what she was being filmed for. I mean, it appears she has an obvious interest in how she wants to be filmed. Great capture, both photos!

  11. The youth often masters technology better than us. Fortunately ! their world will be all dedicated to ever changing technology !
At this moment, I'll choose to go down on the left.

  12. Bibi

I think perhaps the person filming her was her grandfather. Only a guess from the smaller photograph.
