May in Menton - Moules...with Concentration
Steaming bowls of mussels, by the sea. Is there anything better? Look at the faces of those men, one on each table. Pure concentration. You'd better believe it - the French concentrate on their food. Me too!
Josordoni - I forget the name of the restaurant but it's the first one by the sea - and sort of opposite the market. Cross over from the market - direction Roquebrune and there it is on the corner. The restaurant itself is one side of the road and the tables in this photo the other. There is often a very old car outside this restaurant. Sorry can't remember the name.
I've eaten here and it was fine but I never ate mussels here so I don't know.
Nathalie, not long now! And Fabrizio, am so sorry you aren't able to come - but mussels will be waiting for you next time. Can't promise the lady in the black bikini tho!
The restaurant's name is L'Exocet, on the corner of rue Trenca and the seafront. The name makes one think of the famous French missile but in fact it means 'flying fish'.
Wow must be very good and yummy. They sure look so engrossed in their food.
ReplyDeleteI would love to be enjoying those mussels as well!!
ReplyDeleteC'est un bel effort que d'éviter de manger les coques de moules ;-))
ReplyDeleteil faut bien trier les moules, cela demande un travail de concentration maximum ;o)
ReplyDeleteHurray! I'll be back in Menton tomorrow for a short break.. so which restaurant is this? And are the moules the best around?
ReplyDeleteI just LOVE mussels. I eat them whenever I can when in France, or elsewhere where they're served like this.
ReplyDeleteLook at the hands on the chap in the centre: aren't they interesting. Shame that other wine glass is there ... this is glorious Jilly.
ReplyDeleteI am not so keen on seafood, but I appreciate the way these people are anchanted by their food. Very good shot.
ReplyDeleteLOL Julie! I think he's just been scratching his ear.
ReplyDeleteJilly, I think I can relate to the idea of mussels by the sea. How many more sleeps? I can't wait.
Oh... J'adore les moules :-((

Fascination it is. They must be looking for something. Maybe some kind of pearl?
ReplyDeleteWhat a fantastic meal!
ReplyDeleteI'm searching for the "frites" to go with the mussels.
ReplyDeleteSo concentrated, indeed. They don't have to miss one !
