In the Old Town of Menton, Peter from Paris found the postman. Please click on Peter's link to see a marvellous collage and reportage of his time in Menton - so many marvellous photographs.
Some of you may remember the same postman last Christmas, when Rue Longue was still undergoing renovation. As you can see, in both photographs, he has the time of day for everyone - a good kind man.

This reminds me of a French film that was in town a few months ago. I forget the titles English was different from French. It was about a fellow who thinks he's going to be transferred to a post office in or near Nice but he ends up being transferred to a small town in the north. It was a charming, funny film and I'm sure Jilly and others know the name.
ReplyDeleteSuch a good photo - says so much in "just a few lines"
ReplyDeleteA photo with flavour. Bravo Peter!

I must admit that I was lucky to find the postman and the old gentleman! I felt it illustrated the atmosphere of the whole place! They took their time and discussed for a few minutes! Nice to see that such things still exist!
ReplyDeleteExcept for their more modern clothing (and the postman's tennis shoes!), this is a timeless shot. I had a really nice postman in France.
ReplyDeleteDefinitely enlarge this one. It is absolutely pitch perfect!
ReplyDeletePeter,
ReplyDeleteBravo!! What a wonderful photograph. I love this portrait of the two in conversation. You captured the postman's friendly spirit so very well. Now I'm off to see your photos on your blog!

ReplyDeleteI must add Menton to my bucket list. It seems a lovely place to live.
A perfect photo!!
ReplyDeleteBrilliant, Peter! What a great village scene! Knowing that they took a good while for a chat makes it even better. Don't we all long for a life where there is time for friendly conversation?
ReplyDeleteThe colors of your photo are fantastic and so is the scene. Old France.
ReplyDeleteNice meeting! I think the postman must be in a good condition with all these steps up and down every day... And I notice his shoes!
ReplyDeleteI can't wait for the photos that are coming.
J'aime les couleurs douces de cette photo..
ReplyDeletela lumiere qui perce entre deux murs..
Very nice little slice of life picture. The street and colors are gorgeous, like something out of a movie.
ReplyDeleteA postman on feet. No way to do differently.
ReplyDeleteThis picture illustrate perfectly the atmosphere of an old town in the South. There's still time to spare at friendly discussions.
Peter captured a nice scene here. its nice to see a postman who still has time for people. Most are too busy and in a rush over here.
ReplyDeleteThis photo is brilliant. I love everything about it.
ReplyDeletePeter is one helluva a photographer. We have such a grumpy postman unlike this charming man.
ReplyDelete. . .and you've immortalized him in the two photos of him! :-) I love his trainers!
ReplyDeleteWonderful exposure in this passage, Peter.
