Peter's Menton - the Postman

In the Old Town of Menton, Peter from Paris found the postman. Please click on Peter's link to see a marvellous collage and reportage of his time in Menton - so many marvellous photographs.

Some of you may remember the same postman last Christmas, when Rue Longue was still undergoing renovation. As you can see, in both photographs, he has the time of day for everyone - a good kind man.

  1. This reminds me of a French film that was in town a few months ago. I forget the titles English was different from French. It was about a fellow who thinks he's going to be transferred to a post office in or near Nice but he ends up being transferred to a small town in the north. It was a charming, funny film and I'm sure Jilly and others know the name.

  4. I must admit that I was lucky to find the postman and the old gentleman! I felt it illustrated the atmosphere of the whole place! They took their time and discussed for a few minutes! Nice to see that such things still exist!

  5. Except for their more modern clothing (and the postman's tennis shoes!), this is a timeless shot. I had a really nice postman in France.

  9. Brilliant, Peter! What a great village scene! Knowing that they took a good while for a chat makes it even better. Don't we all long for a life where there is time for friendly conversation?

  11. Nice meeting! I think the postman must be in a good condition with all these steps up and down every day... And I notice his shoes!

  17. Peter is one helluva a photographer. We have such a grumpy postman unlike this charming man.
