This is a shot of the Old Town I just love - but I'd never thought of presenting it in black and white before. Of course, when the photograph is taken by Richard, then it's not a surprise. You can see all of Richard's Menton shots, (including Roquebrune, Gorbio and Monte Carlo) some taken on digital and some on film, by clicking on the link.
Yes1 Like this one... the light, the dark, the subject making its way up. It's a 'keeper'.
ReplyDeleteWhat a beauty. I love the height and depth of it. The laundry hanging overhead, the sign, and the single figure making his way toward the viewer. Excellent composition in B&W!
ReplyDeleteI'm thinking in color you wouldn't get the powerful effect of that magnificent light in the background and the shadowy foreground. THis is an gorgeous shot Richard. I have to know........film???

Wonderful shot! Beautiful narrow alley!
ReplyDeleteThe kind of photo when I was younger that made me want to be a photographer. Sublime.
ReplyDeleteGreat shot. The black and white makes it look timeless.
ReplyDelete@virginia - this was a digital original. You can see it here

So who's manipulating us? ;-) Nice, though, isn't it.
ReplyDeleteNice. A timeless shot...
ReplyDeleteIt looks old in black and white.
ReplyDeleteI love it too. Great series.
ReplyDeleteThe size of the picture, its frame are perfect and enhances the impression of the narrowness of the street.
ReplyDeleteThe black and white, street light, old sign are interesting too, it's timeless like this part of the city. I like the effect on this picture. Many often, I don't dare black and white, because I'm so tempted by the colors of the old town.
