On every corner in Menton it seemed there was street theatre - here, at the Place du Cap, a circus act. These are a group of Italian children, Bimbo Circo, getting ready to perform on their mono-bikes.
Brilliant image. The silhouetted walker and the lit up unicyclist splitting the image into a two in one shot is extremely create. Don't be modest or say lucky, it's superb.
J! Have you been reading some art books? Nicely done.
This street theatre must be on the rise (if as ever actually "not existing"). I noticed something very similar going on in Kingston, some days ago. It's noisy, and quite powerful when you are just a few feet away from the actors.
I only knew one person who could ride one of these and he did it with a modified bike the local welder cut down and welded back together for him. I could never do it. I suppose these kids had a ball.
You don't make often black and white pictures. This choice of monochrome for this picture is excellent. It attracts the attention on this monocycle woman.
superbe, j'adorais avoir le sens de l'équilibre pour en faire. belle photo en b&w
ReplyDeleteI wouldn't mind trying that, I think it could be fun!
ReplyDeleteI've never been to the Matisse museum in Nice either and yes, I'd love to go with you one day. Another good reason to return to Menton!
That's a great shot of the woman on a unicycle. I've always wanted to try one of those....
ReplyDeleteI'd never tried one of these, I'm guessing these kids are having some serious fun!

ReplyDeleteYa, the unicycle pulls the eye, but the person in the shadows MAKES it. Wonderful contrast here.

I'm with Babooshka and Birdman. That figure in shadow adds so much to the story.
ReplyDeleteIt seems some of us are on a bicycle theme, but a unicycle is something else again. Lucky kids to be able to try and conquer it.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for the kind comments, but Babooshka, honestly it was luck - even tho you told me not to say it!

ReplyDeleteYour main photo today you today is really good. I love the contrast between the two women. Great job :)
ReplyDeleteIt is so wonderful for Italy and France to share their "art". Do you think a french group is in Italy performing?
ReplyDeleteThose little girls are so cute.
Nadedge, I really don't know but certainly there were Italian and French groups in Menton.
