Theme Day: Shadows...on Promenade le Corbusier

There is a magical walk from the point of Cap Martin to Monaco that used to be called le Sentier des Douaniers, but was later renamed Promenade le Corbusier in honour of the famous architect who lived in the cabanon he built along by the sea. He later drowned whilst swimming off the rocks. We will be featuring this most beautiful of walks (see small photo) and visiting Corbusier's cabanon on Menton Daily Photo later in the year.

Here is one of my dogs, Beau, enjoying the walk. He's a Bruno de Jura, one of six hunting breeds in Switzerland and ancestor of the Bloodhound - look at those long ears!

Today is Theme Day on CDP and the theme is Shadows. To see how over a hundred fellow-bloggers from around the world have interpreted this theme please click here to view thumbnails for all participants. You will be surprised and delighted and entranced.

  9. What a beautiful boy her is. And he does have very long ears! Tell me, Jilly, does he stop to sniff everything along the way?

  10. Great shadow, Jilly! His shadow profile here really accents his breed as a bloodhound. Beau even appears to be hot on the trail.

  11. I hadn't heard of the breed before. Beau's a beautiful (handsome?) dog, and the shadow makes two of him, which is even better!

  17. Great idea for our theme, Jilly! I can't wait for seeing your future photos because it's difficult to me to imagine Le Corbusier living in a "cabanon" ;-)

  20. A perfect combination of the shadow from the dog and against the background of the shadows from the fence. I must say, your dog looks like a much better companion than the cat Abe showed on his Brookville, Ohio Daily Photo today.

  28. Reminds me of an old cartoons I used to watch when I was a kid with a long eared father and son's dogs.
The father was always calling his son:
    "Japy, Japy mon fils"....
    Beau deserves his name!

  29. We took this walk along the Promenade when we visited last Fall and were staying in Nice. You are sooo right..it is thrilling & magical. Several people we met along the way had their canine friends with them and I was really missing our dogs at home during and after our walk.

  32. I like the Beau's shadow against the shadow of the wire netting. Very stylized, it could make a picture by itself.
Lily of the Valley for you Jilly.

  34. Nice hound - I've heard of Corbusier and his importance in my delving into Po Mo, did't know of the tragedy. Must return to see his cabanon, a cabin? I should look up my French dictionary
