When a horse is being presented to the judges, there is always a handler outside the ring with a plastic bag on the end of a flexible pole. This gets whipped about to get the horse's attention and perk him up. It makes quite a noise too. Some handlers bang on the bars of the tents.
Nice action captured. I loved the way the sky is in the first picture. Also, thanks for sharing the information... :-)
ReplyDeleteI suppose like children, the horses are interested in other things besides looking good all the time.
ReplyDeleteThis is all so fascinating.
ReplyDeleteI had never heard of this before. I'll have to ask my "horse savvy" sister and see if she has seen this done here.
ReplyDeleteI had no idea about that.
ReplyDeleteWonderful set of pictures from the horse show. Beautiful horses just beg to be photographed, don't they?
ReplyDeletePlastic bottles with small rocks in them are sometimes used in the same way.
ReplyDeleteLouis
That is odd! Is it within the rules?
ReplyDeleteJust read this one and the previous posts, WOW, what an adventure you had ! And what a filly she is ! So his royal highness wasn't there for you to photograph alongside his horse ?
ReplyDeleteThe human mind is so ingenius; who would have thought plus the posters comment re. plastic bottles with rocks in them is another clever idea. The sky is a remarkable shade of blue!
ReplyDeleteMarley, don't think they can be breaking the rules as the ring had about 8 judges doing their stuff and you couldn't miss the banging of the bags.
