Procession Votive - the Spectators

Looking down as the procession approaches, these two ladies are obviously enjoying the spectacle.

This photograph surprised me when I eventually saw it on the screen. The lady on the left is the double of my maternal grandmother. Perhaps it's simply the shape of her face and her hairstyle? It shocked me though. I'd clicked so quickly and not noticed her features when I took the shot.

I love taking photographs but then there is the moment to see the result, sometimes pleasing, often disappointing and occasionally a personal surprise like this. Trying to imagine my grandmother in the south of France doesn't work though - she lived a very different life.

  1. I don´t know... But I guess it must be nice to LIVE in Meton! ( I have only been there ONE day around Easter time 3-4 years back, when we got hold of some cheap tickets to Nice, and took the train to Meton.) Well, these to ladies are lucky. And I agree; it is strange to see someone "look alike" someone you know.
    Have a nice weekend!:-)

  4. There are several lifestyles among individuals living in the south of France. It is a very unique place offering such amazing history and sights. Again I thank you Jilly for your continued effort to present such amazing photos that display life among the region.

  10. Oh Jilly they are a delight and the fact that one brings back dear memories is even more special. Yes, I know how it feels to find the "hidden surprises" when you download your photos. Sometimes very good, sometimes the ones you think are going to be so great are not so much! Your portraits are always so very special. It's your gift I think.
