A young Alain Delon on the cover of a book and a pretty young girl lunching at Le Balico in Menton. I love that the patron displays interesting books around the tables.
Note: Since posting this, sadly Le Balico has been sold and is now under new management and with different decor.
Nice, nice. Never cared for Alain Delon (trop beau, et il le savait...), but he does add a touch to this photograph!
ReplyDeletebien vu, ce couple impossible et original...faut avouer qu'il était beau le gars Delon
ReplyDeleteThis is a case where the picture speaks a thousand words, thanks to your title and commentary to help point us to the pith of this.
ReplyDeleteTwo protraits in one...Well done, Jilly.
ReplyDeleteThe Balico is your canteen, no ?
Le Balico is wonderful! Thank you for reminding me about it, Jilly. I was just back in Menton a week ago and my son and I had a wonderful dinner there. It is one of the best restaurants in Menton. And the weather was great. High 70's and low 80's with sunshine everyday for TWO WEEKS! Lots of people have discovered that October is a great month to visit. The beaches were crowded on weekends - and we got the last table at Le Balico on a week night!
ReplyDeleteAnother wonderful portrait. I'd like to know if your subjects are aware? Just curious. Some seem to others, like this girl maybe not. All are grand of course.

Virginia, sometimes yes, sometimes no, hence my note on the blog telling people if they see their photo and don't want it shown, then I'll remove it. People are more relaxed, aren't they, when they don't know they are being photographed. I know I hate mine being taken when I'm asked to pose.
ReplyDeleteAlain Delon fait comme nous il vieillit et il ne lui reste qu'à admirer les jolies filles
ReplyDeleteLovely photo :)
ReplyDeleteNice composition of the two portraits. One is looking at us, the other is in profile. Two very pretty human beings.
