Ventimiglia Market - Fish Eyes

If you didn't care for yesterday's tentacles, today we have fish - all sorts of fish and all so fresh. And in the smaller photo - shellfish with amazing eyes, if indeed they are eyes and not a pattern as on a peacock feather?

I like these fellows just as much as yesterday's 'catch'. I like the random way they're lying around and the colors.
ReplyDeleteBibi, so did I. Made me wish I could paint them!
ReplyDeleteon s'attend à les voir sauter ;)
ReplyDeleteOh ! Jilly ! These shellfishes, I see them on my plate cooked with garlic and parsley...do you smell the scent ? The next time I come in Menton, direction all together at the Balico....
ReplyDeleteIt's around 10 am, and I'm hungry, well done, Jilly !
I'm not a vegetarian now, but I was one for about 20 years. The first time I ordered fish after all that time, the cook had a very good sense of humor. He did the fish up with a parsley and paprika eye to stare at me. He made me laugh at myself and the fish was delicious. Thank you for helping me to remember that.
ReplyDeleteWonderful quote! Ain't it true!
ReplyDeleteHere's looking at you!
ReplyDeleteGreat photos.
Ah yes, the eyes have it alright, but in this case it's all about freshness. And your cephalopods as well - beautiful looking product. Would love them all in the kitchen pot :) Great shots, Jilly
ReplyDeleteLes crevettes j'adore et les poissons aussi bien!

Great looking potential feast! So fresh! I'm stopping by for a little while today but still on sabbatical.
ReplyDeleteDear Jilly, I like this photo with all the fresh local fish. It makes me hungry! What concerns me is the breeded fish from Greece amongst the local fish (Oratine & Spigole).
