Ventimiglia - the River
Copyright 2009 Menton Daily Photo. All rights reserved
Ventimiglia is just 7 kilometres from Menton, across the border into Liguria, Italy. First stop is the small village of Latte, and next the town of Ventimiglia which has an amazing Friday market. People come from miles around to this market and over the next few days we'll take a look.
When you live in a border town like Menton it's as easy to hop across the border to shop, as to go to the local supermarket. I often shop in Latte or Ventimiglia.
We are standing on the footbridge which crosses the river, looking upstream from the sea towards the Old Town and the valley of the Roya.
impressionnant tous ces oiseaux, ATTENTION.............;o))
ReplyDeleteThe first thing I noticed with the shadows of the people standing on the bridge. I believe there's a bridge over there? Also the picture is very nicely composed following the rule of thirds!
ReplyDelete- Pixellicious Photos
Gosh, didn't know there was a river in Ventimiglia. I slept on the beach there once, as a student...
ReplyDeleteI see your shadow, Jilly !
ReplyDeleteI have to post something I love concerning this bridge. I'll make a link to your post, ok ? I love the other side of this bridge, when I enter in the old town, with its mysterious alley...It reminds me Menton old town. An atmosphere.
It should be corrected the beginning of the article from "Vintimille in Italian" to "Vintimille in French".
ReplyDeleteIf You like to see 2 old photos of the border Menton/Ventimiglia, come to see my blog about the borders and click on "Francia".

Pilland, thanks, I wasn't concentrating! Interesting photos of the border - I presume you refer to the photos of the two border guards. Fascinating you have a border blog. Couldn't find an email address else I'd have responded privately.
