Walk to the Monastery of l'Annonciade - the Wine Press
An old wine press outside the gate of the vineyard.
"I can no more think of my own life without thinking of wine and wines and where they grew for me and why I drank them when I did and why I picked the grapes and where I opened the oldest procurable bottles, and all that, than I can remember living before I breathed."

I realize that this is no longer in use, but it would be hard to let the wood deteriorate in the weather. I would want to pick up a paint brush and a gallon of wood preservative.
ReplyDeleteAre we getting closer to the wine? :<)
ReplyDeletePerfect matching of text to image here, Jilly. It's too early in the morning but now I'll be looking forward all day to my evening glass of merlot.
ReplyDeleteThe quote is a most amazing one, and I agree it fits the theme perfectly. I wonder if the old wine press ever gets to be used every once in a while, even if only for a demo?
ReplyDeleteI've seen and operated an apple press, but never a wine press. Would like to try one myself.
ReplyDeleteWhen do we get to try the wine?!
ReplyDeleteI hate to tell you but we don't get to the taste the wine. I didn't see any for sale in the Monastery shop but perhaps I wasn't looking properly. I've a feeling this wine may be just for the local people who make it.
