Chemin des Crèches - the Carved Crib


Of the 150 cribs in Roquebrune village there are hardly any that are the same. This one, sitting on top of a wall, appears to be housed in carved wood - perhaps a gourd but I don't think so.

  2. These wonderful displays remind of a small ornament (alas, lost) I had at one time of a creche scene inside a walnut. This one is so remarkably clear and distinct.

  4. I don't know what that is but it makes a nice creche. I especially like the Holy Family. They are almost child like.

  5. If the Holy Family could not have found a manger, this scene makes it appear that a cave would have been a good alternative.
