Chemin des Crèches - the Carved Crib
Of the 150 cribs in Roquebrune village there are hardly any that are the same. This one, sitting on top of a wall, appears to be housed in carved wood - perhaps a gourd but I don't think so.
These wonderful displays remind of a small ornament (alas, lost) I had at one time of a creche scene inside a walnut. This one is so remarkably clear and distinct.
You have eyes for beautiful details, and thanks for sharing them with us. Enjoy the Christmas Holiday!:-)

ReplyDeleteThis series has been so sweet, Jilly.
ReplyDeleteI don't know what that is but it makes a nice creche. I especially like the Holy Family. They are almost child like.

If the Holy Family could not have found a manger, this scene makes it appear that a cave would have been a good alternative.
ReplyDeleteIs just cute!
ReplyDeleteI've never seen so many creches. This is a wonderful series, and I especially like this one.
ReplyDeleteI like your past festive posts.
ReplyDeleteHope you and yours had a great christmas :)
