Death by Snow
The pelargoniums (geraniums to you and me) are withered, the agapanthus looks decidedly out of sorts and the lily in the pot above probably won't recover.
No more snow overnight but it's still incredibly cold. The water in the dog bowls is frozen solid. Not south of France weather!
In the last photo, you see Daisy, an 8 month old labrador who is staying here for a few months - yesterday she saw her first snow and thought it was the best fun.
all hope is not lost, the sun returns in Menton
ReplyDeleteIn my humble opinion all dogs should have a chance to see snow at least once in their lifetime. Before you know it the sun will be out shining again and the warmth will return. On the télé the northeastern US states have more snow at the moment than they desire I’m sure. Stay warm...
ReplyDeleteThat top shot is beautiful, sad, but beautiful.
ReplyDeleteOn the CNN website yesterday they showed a photo of a dog experiencing snow for the first time.
ReplyDeleteHow do you explain such things to a dog? What must they be thinking?
Agree with BC. The lily looks sad and yes probably irrecoverable, but the light you have utilised is magical, Jilly.
ReplyDeleteI gather things have simply gone from bad to worse as the weekend progressed.
Take care.
what fun it is for those of us that don't usually get snow. I knew that lab would have some fun!

Only a dusting of snow here but it is sooooo cold! Brrrrr!
ReplyDeleteThe plant in the top photo looks like the poinsetti on my mantel that I forgot to water. Oh! Oh!
ReplyDeleteLast year, I've brought back Aloe Vera from the Ventiglia market. It is withered too ! Hope it will survive with my care !
ReplyDeleteDaisy seems to taste the snow...for once in her life.
How long did the snow lock you in? I imagine there was no attempting to manage your driveway in such weather!
ReplyDeleteWhat an amazing thing to see....so different from a lovely sunny June we remember so fondly!
