Reclamation

Almost a tiny island, in fact this small piece of land is man made, reclaimed from the sea and added to the bay you see in the smaller photograph. Add a few trees and you'd never know...well, perhaps you would.

  2. No man is an island, but several men have made one (or nearly so).

  3. I will take a lovely man made island over any highrise or anything that scars the landscape.

  6. It's an area that created a beach this side - also it's a place for people to sit, to gather, kids play, old people sit on benches, CDP photographers take photographs...

  7. Jilly:

Any chance you could post a photo of the XMAS lights. We spent 3 weeks in Menton in November and they were installing the lights. We are very anxious to see them lit!!

    Thanks.

  9. Is there still a web cam somewhere in Menton showing the city or the sea shore, I can't find one .. There are a couple of links here Jilly but they don't work, not from Belgium anyway!

  10. Your bottom beach shot definitely conveys a sense of cold and winter.

  11. Hello.
Is the Daily Photo a photo from the publishing day or is it just a photo you publish a specific day? The weather looks much better than the weatherforecasts say. The lack of good webcams in this region is very bad...

  12. Rocteur and Anon, yes, unfortunately those webcams don't always work. However, if you try again, you'll find the one on Napolean plage is definitely working. For me anyway. The other one is located in Ste. Agnes and there have been problems with it for a while now. They have been informed.

I take photos every few days. This one was taken on the 12th November - ie one day before I published it. Don't forget Menton has a micro-climate and the weather is often better than the general forecast tells us.

  13. Nathalie, funnily enough the bottom photo was taken a few days earlier when it wasn't a good day.

  15. Yes, it's looking towards Monaco. In fact you see the beautiful Old town on Menton in the background, beyond that is Cap Martin and beyond that, Monaco.
