Once a week in Menton there's an antique/bric-a-brac market outside the main food market and on the Place aux Herbes.
Here's one of the dealers taking advantage of a sofa until he hopefully sells it.
(This was taken in November with my old camera - the Lumix FZ18)
j'aime bien la deuxième photo, voila u n beau métier ;) très zen....
ReplyDeleteExcellent portrait in two times, with a nice background.
ReplyDeleteAgree that this is a nice profession. I'd enjoy rooting around for antiques, stuff in people's houses that they don't want or have to sell, but naturally I don't know the valuable from the ordinary stuff. I just would look for what I like.
ReplyDeleteExcellent portraits.
He reminds me one of Belmondo's characters under cover. Second photo is a story in itself.
ReplyDeleteLove the hat, and it looks as though he was too tired, or uninterested, in shaving. It's a wonderful candid shot, Jilly.
ReplyDeleteI don't think he'll be selling that sofa any time soon!HA
ReplyDeleteGreat portrait Jilly. I found some of the antique dealers to be a little hardnosed!:)
I'd like to spend my days like this :-)
ReplyDeleteJilly ! That portrait ! You've done it again ! Don't you dare give up that little gem of Lumix FZ18, it's just too good !
ReplyDelete(all right I know it isn't the camera but the photographer! Have you made any better portraits with your new camera yet?)
Yes, super portrait!
ReplyDeleteNathalie - my first thought was to say no - no portraits have been as good as those with the FZ18 but then I remembered some I have taken with it, so I'll reserve judgement for the moment. the lens on the new camera is definitely of far better quality but obviously it's not such a long zoom. It's a question of learning what the new camera does well and truly I'm getting there. I won't give up the FZ18 tho. thanks Nathalie.
ReplyDeleteAs long as he dosen't fall asleep in the sofa......
ReplyDeleteA perfect portrait Jilly and funny circumstances.
Great image...his frown lines tell the story..I think he knows it may be a slow sell!
ReplyDeleteWhat eyes he has. You've caught something so deep and complex in this portrait.
