Dusk

View from Roquebrune village.

'I venerate old age; and I love not the man who can look without emotion upon the sunset of life, when the dusk of evening begins to gather over the watery eye, and the shadows of twilight grow broader and deeper upon the understanding'

~ Henry Wadworth Longfellow (1807 - 1882)

  2. At every age we look differently upon our past life....just like we can watch this view from Roquebrune, day after day, seeing it changing, and appearing with a new eye at each time.

  3. Entrancing, Jilly. One could sit there and while away the twilight. That is a most appropriate quote from Longfellow. How true it is, and how reassuring that this understanding only comes with age.

    Lovely post.

I'm an ardent follower of this and the Monte Carlo Daily photo - this photo however is in a league of it's own - spectacular!

  5. Yep this is a fabulous view. The horizon is so precise it is no wonder the early explorers thought they would drop over the edge.
The power of the sea to inspire our imaginations!!
