Socks. Children's socks.
An old window frame - layers and layers of cream paint and note the putty to keep the glass in and the weather out. Old labels leave us a few letters to wonder what they once said. A ventilator in one pane of class. Lace curtains. A mish-mash of wiring yet fairly new shutters. Ancient stone walls with the vestiges of ivy still clinging on yet no life is left. And a couple of pots of succulents.
So much to see in just one small window in the Old Town of Menton.
Nice shots....
ReplyDeleteNice details, including the curtains.
The lace curtains lends a whisper of elegance, but the childen's socks and hats definitely shout domesticity.
ReplyDeleteune belle photo de famille ;)
ReplyDeleteRather colorful socks. I wonder where they hang the rest of their clothes. Don't they wash them, too? And why don't they dry the socks in the same place as the rest of their clothes? A house this old must surely have a radiator to lay out damp clothes.
ReplyDeleteThanks for pinpointing al the details for us, you're teaching us to LOOK !
ReplyDeleteOne of the stickers on the window says "cool" (it's upside down).
Jilly, thanks for your visit in Avignon today. Yes Joucas is very much in the department of Vaucluse. It's only about a 50 minute drive from Avignon, going east towards Apt.
Pure whimsy.
ReplyDeleteYes yes, once again: the simplest subjects often make the best photos. Here is an example to prove it.
ReplyDeleteTo keep on the investigation : A little girl is living here...
ReplyDeleteVery "Authentique"...Just as if the window has been fit into the wall, a long time after its building.
One of these old house that will be renovate soon.....
I just adore shots like this that give us a little insight on who or what is inside. Here's one of mine!
ReplyDeleteYes, a nice little microcosm.

Cute capture! I just hope the wind didn't become strong!!
ReplyDeletePeople in the south of France have the prettiest windows and, if this is an example, the craziest feet. One of reasons we want to come back.
ReplyDeleteGlad I'm not the only one that has a (growing) collection of odd socks....
ReplyDeleteWonderful picture. So mediterranian!
ReplyDeleteI really enjoy the detail and faraway shots of this window.
ReplyDeleteFunny that one doesn't really notice the putty, which simply falls under the category of 'charm'. What a great sock collection!
What happy little toes must wiggle in those socks. Two excellent images!
